The past couple weeks for the Adrian College baseball team are ones to be remembered. The Bulldogs received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Hope College. Adrian played in the Whitewater Regional where they faced elimination early, but had three come-from-behind wins resulting in a Regional Championship. The Bulldogs went on to the NCAA DIII College World Series where the final eight teams remained.
Adrian made the College World Series for the second time in program history and the media want to cover it all. Adrian received love from multiple news networks at the local, state, and national level. With the heroics of Tristin Richardson in the Regional Championship game against UW-Whitewater, his walk-off home run was named #10 of ESPN Sportscenter Top-10 Plays.
The Adrian College baseball team went on to be featured on the Bally Sports Network in Detroit during a game break where the Detroit Tigers were playing the Milwaukee Brewers.
WTOL in Toledo, Ohio joined in on the coverage. Jordan Strack sat down via Zoom with head coach Craig Rainey and catcher Gunner Rainey. Coach Rainey expressed that you don't need to go Division I to get opportunities like the Bulldogs had. Gunner shared his thoughts on how lucky he was he to play for his dad and having an opportunity most college athletes don't.
The last Adrian appearance came on a Sunday show from Bally Sports Network called The Third Half with Brooke Fletcher. Fletcher sat down with Coach Rainey, Gunner, and Richardson to talk about the trip to the World Series.
The Bulldogs ended its season in the College World Series after making it to the final six teams. Adrian finished its season with a 37-10 record with another MIAA Championship, a Regional Championship, and its first College World Series appearance since 2008.
