ADRIAN, Mich. – On a comfortable Wednesday evening at Docking Stadium, the visiting Saints of Siena Heights utilized two second half goals to pull away from Adrian in the Bulldogs' season opener.
Alex Hanosh scored once and contributed one assist for Siena Heights (1-1-0), who outshot the home side 21-6, including a 11-2 mark in shots on goal.
Hanosh's lone assist came on the game's opening goal in the 32
nd minute after a long pass off the midfielder's left foot found the boot of Nolan Chaput, who slipped it past the Bulldogs' netminder.
Then, in the second frame, Hanosh would find the back of the net himself, followed by a Saints' penalty kick shortly after to balloon their advantage to 3-0.
Adrian continued to fight back late, in spite of what was shown on the scoreboard. An opportunity at the twelve-yard mark proved the Bulldogs' golden ticket to the season's first goal. Junior,
Justin Sarka stepped up and delivered a beautiful strike to the Saints' keeper's left side to electrify the Adrian sideline.
Sarka was one of six different Bulldogs to produce a shot on the night.
The match also featured seven yellow cards and 24 total fouls between the two sides.
Adrian's (0-1-0) next match is scheduled for this upcoming weekend when they venture to Louisville, Kentucky for the Spaulding University Invite. The Bulldogs' first game will take place on Friday evening when they take on Centre at 5:30 p.m.
