ADRIAN, Mich. - On Saturday morning at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center, the Adrian women's volleyball team welcome the visiting Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets, a team coached by freshly-named Adrian College Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Kacie Ehinger. And on her homecoming, the former Bulldog led her team to 3-0 victory.
The visitors utilized a .300-plus attacking percentage over the final two sets en route to their victory.
On the other side, the Yellow Jackets limited Adrian to a .065 attacking mark behind 20 kills.
In the first set, Baldwin Wallace erupted right out the gate, turning in a 20-8 advantage before the Bulldogs began slowly chipping away. Despite a 9-5 run, however, the guests held on to take the opening set 25-17.
The subsequent set saw a similar approach with the 'Jackets racing ahead 18-9 before closing out the frame with a 5-0 stretch to go in front 2-0 in the match.
The black and gold kept things tight in the third set, leading by as many as two points in the early stages of the frame. Unfortunately, Baldwin Wallace turned the tables right back in the favor with a 9-3 stretch, steering them to a decisive 25-16 final score.
Blaire Weiman paced Adrian with seven kills, while
Hailey Farrell chipped in 10 assists.
Mya Minjares posted a team-high 13 digs for the locals.
The Bulldogs will dive into conference action next, beginning on September 21 at Saint Mary's College in Indiana.
