DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Adrian College women's rugby team played four matches on the road at Ohio Wesleyan. Adrian took on four different opponents that included the host school, Tiffin University, Indiana Purdue, and Earlham. Adrian lost to Ohio Wesleyan 26-17 and Indiana Purdue 10-5, but recorded wins against Tiffin, 22-17, and Earlham, 47-7.
Adrian led at halftime of game one against Ohio Wesleyan, but couldn't put away the victory.
Shyann Ronning recorded a pair of tries in the match followed by one from
Claire Ames and a conversion.
The Bulldogs led 17-0 at halftime against Tiffin with the help of tries from Ames, two from Ronning, and one from
Andrea Leach-King.ames recorded another successful conversion in match two.
It was all defense in match three as Adrian and Indiana Purdue were tied 0-0 at halftime. The lone Adrian try came from
Anais Melendrez for the Bulldogs. Indiana Purdue scored to win on the final play of the match.
Adrian finished the day strong against Earlham as they led 22-7 at halftime. During the match, Ames record two more tries on the day and Ronning recorded her fifth of the day. Melendrez recorded a pair of tries on the match followed by one from Leach-King. Samantha Krawzki and
Perla Orozco added tries against Earlham, and
Madison Williamson completed a conversion.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, October 2 on the road at Earlham College for their next contest.
