ALBION, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's basketball team took on the Albion College Britons on Saturday afternoon on the road, dropping the contest 90-74. Foul trouble forced the struggle for the Bulldogs as they committed 29 fouls leading to 30 points from the free throw line for the Britons.
The Bulldogs took the early lead at 16-8 with baskets from
Andrew Larson,
Connor Pelham,
Jalen Paul, and
Kendall Chrismon with eight minutes played in the game. Albion sparked a run as they tied the game at 20-20 with 7:46 to play in the first half. Adrian regained the lead with under two minutes to play, but a three-pointer and layup at the buzzer put the Bulldogs behind by two at halftime by a score of 34-32.
The two team traded points early in the second half, but the Britons went on another run to lead by 12 with 13 minutes to play. A little over halfway through the second half, Albion extended the lead to 20-points, but Adrian responded to get within reach. After a layup and a free throw from
De'Ovion Price, the Bulldogs trailed 79-72 with 3:13 to go in the game. Albion cut the scoring off for Adrian to end the game as they went on a a tear to grab the 16-point win.
Adrian spaced out the scoring as
Connor Pelham finished with a team-high 19 points followed by 19 from
Kendall Chrismon, 14 from
Jalen Paul, and 12 from
De'Ovion Price. Larson lead the team in rebounds with ten while Paul recorded seven assists to lead Adrian.
The Bulldogs will head to Trine University for another road contest on Wednesday, January 26 for a 7:30 PM tip-off looking to put one back in the win column in MIAA play.
