BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Adrian College club baseball team took on three opponents this past weekend which resulted in disappointing fashion.
The Bulldogs took the field for their first game against the Spartans of Michigan State. The Spartans scored the first two runs of the game and led 2-0 until the 4th inning when they scored a couple more runs along with Adrian and continued to lead 5-3. The 5th inning was the turning point of the game when the Spartans scored eight runs to Adrian's three.
Brock Hudik went 4-for-4 on the day for the Bulldogs and contributed two runs. Brandon Gayton,
Payton Weiber,
Derrick Bell,
Trevor Trombley and
Kael Scott recorded hits in the 14-7 loss to the Spartans.
The next day, Adrian played two games starting with the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. Adrian was held scoreless until the 4th inning while Eastern had already put up six runs. The Eagles scored a run coming in the 1st inning and five more in the 2nd. Weiber continued the hitting streak from Friday and contributed a hit during the game along with
Josh Vaculik, Trombley, Scott and Kevin LaMont who contributed an RBI.
Joe Postma and Stephen Aumaitre recorded hits and scored. The Bulldogs dropped the contest against the Eagles 10-4 and looked to bounce back in the next game against the Redbirds of Illinois State University.
The Redbirds scored three runs on the day with four hits while Adrian scored one run on seven hits. Aumaitre scored the only run for Adrian with multiple Bulldogs recording hits. Adrian was held scoreless until the 5th inning while Illinois State scored in the 2nd, 5th and 6th inning.
Tyson Carter, Daulton Porter, and
Sam Fosmoen pitched for the Bulldogs this weekend and fall to 0-1 with the Bulldogs falling to 5-3 on the season
Adrian is back in action this weekend at Western Michigan University to take on the Broncos for a three-game series.
