ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team was looking to complete the sweep over Trine University on Saturday night as they hosted the Thunder at the Arrington Ice Arena. Things didn't go as planned for the Bulldogs as they dropped the contest 6-2 to the Thunder.
Adrian started the scoring in the first period on a power play goal. After scoring twice the night before,
Ty Enns gave Adrian a 1-0 lead.
Bradley Somers and
Hunter Wendt recorded assists on the goal. Trine responded later to make it 1-1. Later in the period, the Thunder took a 2-1 lead with another goal.
The Bulldogs were held scoreless in the second while Trine added to its lead. The Thunder scored on a wraparound goal to lead 3-1.
Trine jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the third period with the help of a pair of power play goals.
Jacob Suede scored late in the period for Adrian to bring the final score to 6-2.
Nic Tallarico got the start in goal for Adrian where he recorded 23 saves.
Jackson Bernard came into the game late in the third period to make his first collegiate appearance.
Saturday night's loss marks the Bulldogs' first loss in program history to Trine moving the all-time record to 18-1.
The Bulldogs will take a week off before traveling to MSOE to resume NCHA conference play on December 2-3. The first game of the series is scheduled for 8:00 PM EST.
