ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 2 hockey team earned the No. 1 spot in the Central Region in this season's first official ACHA national rankings. The Bulldogs then proceeded to sweep Notre Dame in a home and home series over the weekend, by scores of 6-1 and 8-4.
The Arrington Ice Arena was host to game one of the series on Friday night, which saw Bulldog forward
Avery Huxter post a hat trick and four points. Jasmine Reibel,
Mary Robinson, and Hannah Berenson also netted goals in the win. Goaltender
Hannah Taylor made 18 saves to earn the victory in net.
The Bulldogs then traveled to South Bend, Indiana on Sunday afternoon to complete the sweep.
Avery Huxter added two more goals to her season total, which now stands at thirteen.
Mary Robinson and Bria Hirschman also found the back of the net twice.
Kathleen Droba was able to snipe her sixth goal of the season in the second period, while freshman defenseman Emma Stanley potted her first collegiate goal in the third period. Goaltender Julianna Johnson made 18 saves in the win.
The WD2 Bulldogs will be back in action on December 10-11 at the Arrington Ice Arena as they host Sault College. Puck drops at 7:00 PM and 1:00 PM.
