ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's ACHA Division 2 hockey team split a two-game CCWHA road series against Northern Michigan University on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, at the Berry Events Center. The Bulldogs opened the weekend with a 1-0 overtime victory before falling 3-2 in Saturday's contest. Senior goaltender Emily Tracht delivered a standout performance throughout the series, totaling 80 saves across the two games.
Friday's matchup remained scoreless through all three periods as both teams battled defensively. Tracht kept Northern Michigan off the scoreboard throughout regulation, turning away every shot she faced to send the contest into overtime. Freshman Alexis Alfonsi eventually broke the deadlock at the 4:14 mark of the extra period, scoring the game-winning goal off assists from senior Lulu Weglarz and graduate student Katelyn Moreland. Tracht finished with 42 saves to secure the shutout, helping Adrian earn the 1-0 victory despite being outshot 42-31.
The Bulldogs returned to the ice Saturday afternoon for the second game of the series but came up just short in a 3-2 defeat. Moreland found the back of the net for Adrian, with junior Gabrielle Paff and Alfonsi earning assists on the play. Senior Gabby Brumme added the Bulldogs' second goal, assisted by Weglarz and senior Aubrey Morrison. Tracht once again provided a strong presence between the pipes, stopping 38 of Northern Michigan's 41 shots to finish the weekend with 80 total saves.
