ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's basketball team hosted Siena Heights University in the annual crosstown battle for the Milk Jug Series. Siena Heights held possession of the Milk Jug entering Tuesday night's game after taking it from the Bulldogs last season. Adrian brought the Milk Jug back to the west side of town with a 60-58 victory over the Saints.
Adrian led 33-24 after the first half. The Bulldogs shot 39.4% for the half led by eight points from Nick Seifert. Josh Jordan collected six points in the first half along with six points from De'Ovion Price. After the first 20 minutes of play, the Bulldogs controlled the boards 18-16.
Siena Heights cut into the lead early in the second half, but the Bulldogs sparked a run to lead by 11. Adrian continued to space out the scoring as Jordan, James Clay, and Kendall Chrismon each totaled six points in the second half. Siena Heights sparked another comeback late in the game, but a layup followed by the and-one free throw from Jordan put the Bulldogs up five. After some late pressure from Siena Heights, the Saints controlled the ball with 18 second left on the clock trailing by two. The Saints missed the layup which was rebounded by Adrian with four seconds remaining which sealed the Bulldog victory.
The Milk Jug Series has been around since the 1977-78 season with Siena Heights controlling the series. Adrian picked up its 12th win in the Milk Jug Series on Tuesday night and first under the direction of head coach
Tim Kaiser.
Jordan led the scoring for Adrian finishing with 12 points on the night followed by eight from Seifert and eight from Clay.Â
The Bulldogs will take some time off and return to action on Saturday, December 3 when they travel to Cleveland, Ohio to take on Case Western Reserve at 3:00 PM.
