ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 2 hockey team took on Central Michigan University over the weekend in a home and home series, losing 5-4 in overtime on Saturday and winning 4-3 at home on Sunday.
The Bulldogs managed to outshoot CMU on the road in game one, 65-43, but fell short in the extra frame. Freshman defenseman Jillian Eggleston notched her first career collegiate goal in the first period, while
Avery Huxter notched two goals of her own, one of them shorthanded. Hannah Berenson had the other Bulldog goal in the game. Goaltender
Hannah Taylor made 38 saves in the loss.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs garnered the result they were hoping for with a strong effort to close out the series.
Kathleen Droba and
Avery Huxter had goals, while
Jasmine Riebel potted two of her own. Goaltender
Jennifer Grant made 20 saves in her first win of the season.
The WD2 Bulldogs will travel to Oxford, Ohio to take on Miami University (OH) on Friday and Saturday. Puck drops at 9:45 PM on Friday and 5:10 PM on Saturday.
