WHEELING, W.V. – The Adrian College men's rugby team competed in the Big Rivers Conference Playoffs First Round over the weekend as they traveled to West Virginia to rematch Wheeling University. Things didn't go as planned for the Bulldogs as they were eliminated from the playoffs by a score of 31-22.
 
Bautista Robledo, Petelo Vatuvei, and Mike Pakofe scored tries for the Bulldogs. Quinn Murray converted on a pair of tries and completed a penalty conversion.
 
"It was a tight match from the very start," said head coach Benny Mateialona. "The lead changed constantly, as we looked to take control. We had a couple mental mistakes which gave Wheeling control and eventually ended our NCR D1 season. Although we learned a lot in D1 we can use this as a platform to build on for the next year and thank you to our parents and Athletic Department for the constant support."
 
Adrian has completed its fall season and will return in the spring for its 7v7 season.
