MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – The Adrian College women's rugby team wrapped up its fall season over the weekend at Central Michigan University. The Bulldogs controlled the pitch the entire match and shutout CMU, 66-0.
The Bulldogs led 39-0 after the first half. Erin Clay, Anais Melendrez, Jasmine Riebel, Madisyn McDonald, and Audrey Moore scored tries for Adrian. Kaiya Rowan managed to find the end zone twice in the first half. Molly Cherry converted on a pair of tries to lead big at the break.
In the second half, Riebel scored again for Adrian as did Kathleen Droba. Madison Williamson picked up three tries in the second half to record the hat trick and extend the large lead. Wiliamson was able to convert on one of her three attempts to lead the Bulldogs to a 66-0 victory.
"We were aggressive from the first whistle with strong defensive efforts from Erin, Jasmine, Anais and Madi Williamson," said head coach Mike Bowen. "Wind was a huge factor, and against us in the first half. We played fast and broke the line often with our forward pods, opening space out wide."
The match against Central Michigan was the final match of the fall season. The Bulldogs will resume action in the spring when they play 7v7 rugby. Stay tuned to
