BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The No. 5 Adrian College baseball team is back in action as they opened their season on the road at Birmingham Southern College against RV University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Bulldogs piled on runs early to grab a 10-4 victory to get their first win of the season.
UW-Oshkosh struck first with an early two-run homer in the top of the first.
AJ Miranda put the Bulldogs on the board with a RBI double to drive in
Don Goodes. In the top of the second,
Andrew Atherton gave Adrian the lead with a 2-RBI single.
Adrian tacked on run to extend the lead with a double from Goodes and a RBI groundout from
Ty Peck. Oshkosh got in some trouble in the third as they walked in a pair of runs with the bases loaded to give the Bulldogs a 7-2 lead which was lengthened to an 8-2 lead after another RBI groundout from Peck.
Oshkosh scored a run in the fourth on a double, and a run in the fifth to cut into the lead making it an 8-4 ball game.
Miranda added some insurance later in the game with another double to drive in two more runs to lead 10-4.
Maxwell Denny got the start going 4.2 innings allowing four runs on three hits with six walks and four strikeouts.
Ryan Davis got the win with 3.2 innings of work in relief on no-hit baseball while racking up six strikeouts.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow as they face Centre at Birmingham Southern at 3:15 PM EST.
