Baseball Erases Early Deficit to Defeat Greensboro, 14-4

HIGH POINT, N.C.-- The No. 14 Adrian College baseball team opened the weekend series on Friday afternoon as the Bulldogs took on Greensboro College for the second time this season. After defeating Greensboro 16-1 last week, Adrian put up 14 on them today to win 14-4. Greensboro grabbed an early 4-0 lead, but Adrian's offense got rolling in the fourth and again in the sixth to pull ahead.

Greensboro kicked off the game scoring three runs in the second inning on a 2-RBI double and a RBI single. They picked up another run in the third on a RBI single to lead 4-0.

Adrian's offense put up a five spot in the fourth inning to take the lead 5-4. Ty Peck singled in a pair of runs to cut the Greensboro lead in half. Owen Brown singled up the middle to make it 4-3 which was followed later by a 2-run homer from Easton Rogers.

The Bulldogs were held scoreless in the fifth inning, but made up for it with an 8-run sixth. Brown scored on a fielding error to go up 6-4. Kevin Cardentey added two runs with a single to right field to extend the lead to 8-4. Aaron Valentine added a hit in the sixth to add another run which was followed up by a 2-RBI triple from Dylan Johnson to lead 11-4. Adrian wasn't done yet as Peck picked up an RBI on a single to shortstop allowing the Bulldogs to bat around. Brown got on again with a RBI single which forced a throwing error to score another run to lead 13-4 after six innings of play.

Brown singled again in the eighth to added another resulting in a 14-4 win.

Brown finished 3-for-4 on the day with a pair of RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Peck, Johnson, Valentine, and Rogers each had a multi-hit game for Adrian. Gage Ricker got the start allowing four runs in 2.1 innings pitched, but the bullpen was locked down not allowing another run the rest of the way. Andrew Giorno was first out of the pen going 2.2 innings allowing just one hit with three strikeouts to record his second win of the season.

Adrian is back in action tomorrow in a rematch with Greensboro. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM from High Point Rockers Stadium.
