Ninth Inning Comeback Comes up Short as Baseball Loses to William Peace

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The No. 14 Adrian College baseball team wrapped up the weekend trip to North Carolina on Sunday as they took on William Peace. Adrian went down, but forced a ninth inning comeback that fell short to fall 9-7. Adrian will move to 5-4 on the weekend as they head home to continue its season this next weekend against Heidelberg.

William Peace took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on  a 2-run homer. AJ Miranda followed it up with a fielder's choice which drove in a run to make it 2-1. William Peace struck again in the third on a RBI single to lead 3-1 followed by a 3-run sixth inning to extend the lead. Miranda doubled in Thomas Miller in the seventh to make it a 7-2 ballgame.

William Peace kept it going adding two more runs in the ninth to go up 9-2. The Bulldogs sparked a late rally as they tried to steal a win. Don Goodes picked up an RBI on a triple which was followed by a 2-run homer from Easton Rogers to make it 9-5. Later in the inning, Miranda homered to make it 9-7, but it wasn't enough as they Bulldogs couldn't finish the late comeback.

Miranda recorded four RBIs on the day going 2-for-5 while Goodes finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored as Dylan Johnson finished 3-for-5. Maxwell Denny picked up the loss for Adrian as he got the start throwing three innings allowing three runs on six hits and two strikeouts.

Adrian's next game will be the home opener on Saturday, March 19 at 2:00 PM as they host Heidelberg University at Niolay Field.
