ORLANDO, Fla. -- After losing both match on Tuesday during the team's trip to Florida, the Adrian College women's tennis team responded with a two-match sweep on Wednesday. The Bulldogs grabbed a pair of 8-1 victories in the warm weather defeating Houghton College to start the day to later defeat Regis College in the afternoon.
Adrian picked up a sweep in Doubles to begin the day against Houghton.
Vasiliki Gargasoulas and
Bethany Posey came away with an 8-0 victory to begin the day followed by an 8-4 victory from Liv Depie and
Jocelyn Smith at No. 2 Doubles.
Jamie Nicholls and
Regan Snyder won at No. 3 Doubles by forfeit to cap off the sweep.
Gargasoulas won 6-0 and 6-2 to begin the singles round at No. 1 Singles. Posey recorded the lone loss at No. 2 Singles falling 6-4 and 6-4. Depies defeated her opponent 6-1 and 6-1 at No. 3 while Snyder won 6-0 and 6-2 at No. 4. Nicholls grabbed a pair of 6-0 sweeps at No. 5 while Smith won by forfeit at No. 6.
The Bulldogs picked up where they left off demolishing the doubles round against Regis.
Jules Johnson and
Elizabeth Himebauch won 8-1 at No. 1 while Garasoulas and Posey did the same at No. 2.
Maddison Wagner played with Depies at No. 3 where they recorded an 8-0 shutout.
Johnson won 6-0 and 6-2 at No. 1 Singles to start the round followed by a couple of 6-2 victories at No. 2 Singles from Himebauch. Gargasoulas won 6-3 and 6-4 at No. 3 while Posey won 6-2 and 6-3 at No. 4. Depies took home a victory at No. 5 to win the tiebreaker to win 8-1 after a battle at No. 6 Singles from Snyder.
The Bulldogs finish the trip to Florida tomorrow as they take on Wartburg College at the USTA National Training Center at 9:00 AM.
