Women's Lacrosse in Position to Extend Winning-Streak at Thomas More

3/25/2022 2:00:00 PM

ADRIAN, Mich. - It has been three years since the Adrian women's lacrosse team last won three games in-a-row, but it will have the chance to do just that this weekend when the Bulldogs travel south to Crestview Hills, Kentucky to take on Thomas More University.

This will mark the second all-time meeting between the Saints and the 'Dogs. The two sides previously squared-off on March 3, 2020, with the black and gold leaving Kentucky victorious, 17-0.

Then-sophomores Olive Stevens and Carlee Casteel scored four goals each for Adrian in the win, plus an additional two assists from Stevens. Another second-year, Cristin Culbertson contributed three points on two assists and one goal.

So far this season, the duo of Stevens and Casteel have pestered opposing defenses with a team-high 17 and 14 goals, respectively. They both have put forth 28 shots with the latter of the two holding a slim 21-20 edge in shots on goal. Furthermore, the pair are the Bulldogs' primary draw control specialists, having won 24 draws each.

Zoe Weber has recently emerged as another offensive threat for Adrian. After being held scoreless over the season's first two contests, the freshman is actively on a four-game point-streak that includes eight goals and three assists.

Four other Bulldogs enter this weekend with at least five goals to their names, including Delaynie Harris, Cassidy McGeorge, Joscelyn Potter and Brooke Barabas.

In goal, Avery Huxter sports a conference third-best 0.474 save percentage with 46 saves.

As for Thomas More, Kennedy Yurt holds a similar mark between the pipes at 46.9 percent.

Offensively, the Saints feature four players with 20 total points or more. Sophomore Madi Carle leads that group with 27 points, all from 27 goals.

Gracey Robinson (15 goals and 10 assists) and Kendra Yurt (17 goals and seven assists) follow close behind Carle with a combined 49 points.

All told, Adrian holds a near two-point advantage in scoring over Thomas More (11.8-9.5), and has almost scooped up as many ground balls (186-171) despite having only played four games fewer.

A win for Adrian not only pushes its win-streak to three games, but also puts the Bulldogs over their win total from a season ago.

Live stats and video will be available for Saturday's game, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. EST.
