Bulldogs Make it Back-to-Back Wins on Home Turf in Women's Lacrosse

ADRIAN, Mich. - At Docking Stadium, the Adrian women's lacrosse team won its second consecutive home contest, defeating Heidelberg 16-6 to improve to 2-3 overall.

After a closely-matched first quarter, the Bulldogs utilized an 11-2 scoring run over the second and third frames to pull away from the Student Princes and roll on to a victory.

Carlee Casteel paced the black and gold on the scoresheet with five points on four goals and one assists, while Zoe Weber and Joscelyn potter each contributed four points on a combined six goals and two dimes.

It was Adrian's senior attacker opening the scoring after two and a half minutes, successfully converting on one of the Bulldogs' two man-up opportunities on the evening. Brooke Barabas quickly doubled the advantage less than three minutes later. However, Heidelberg was swift to respond, trimming the deficit back to one goal.

After a tally from Weber to restore the 'Dogs' two-goal lead, the Student Princes, again wasted little time pulling back to within one. Nevertheless, it was the locals getting the last laugh of the quarter, as Casteel tacked on back-to-back goals over the final five minutes to push the Bulldogs ahead 5-2.

The next half-hour of action was all Adrian, beginning with a strike from Weber to spark the home side's deciding stretch of offense.

Cassidy McGeorge, Delaynie Harris, Barabas, Potter, Casteel and Weber all posted goals for the black and gold during their offensive barrage, helping to outshoot their opposition 17-5 over the middle two quarters.

The Bulldogs also controlled the turf convincingly during that time frame, scooping up 25 ground balls to the Student Princes' eight.

All told, Adrian finished with a 49-29 advantage on grounders, as well as a 16-4 edge in caused turnovers.

In goal, Avery Huxter sealed her second win of the season with a six-save effort.

The Bulldogs now begin a three-game road trip, starting on Saturday, March 12 at Franklin College in Indiana.
