ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College baseball team suffered another loss on Wednesday night at Nicolay Field to Trine University in the midweek MIAA series. The Bulldogs got on the board early, but a three inning stretch of runs by Trine put the Thunder on top 11-5. The Bulldogs drop to 11-10 on the season and sit 3-2 in MIAA play.
Adrian came out scoring in the first inning starting with a sacrifice fly from
Andrew Atherton.
Ryan Davis followed it up with a 2-RBI single to drive in
AJ Miranda and
Don Goodes to lead 3-0 after one inning of play.Â
Trine got on the board in the third making it 3-2 after a single that drove in a pair. The same batter singled in another run two innings later to tie the game 3-3. The Thunder took the lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly to go up 4-3. After a pair of errors to start the sixth, Trine took advantage and added a four spot to lead 8-3.
The Bulldogs started to show some life in the bottom half of the inning scoring on a pinch hit double from
Nathan Grega which was followed by a RBI single from
Dylan Johnson.
Trine answered with three more runs in the seventh with the help of a two-run homer to make it 11-5.
Maxwell Denny got the start for the Bulldogs picking up his second loss of the season allowing four runs on six hits with seven strikeouts.Â
Adrian is scheduled to return to the field on the road at Albion College on Friday, April 15 at 4:00 PM to continue MIAA play.
