ADRIAN, Mich. - At the Adrian College Softball Field, despite dealing with windy conditions of over 25 miles per hour at times, the Bulldog softball team (9-15, 4-2 MIAA) took care of business against Olivet College, sweeping the Comets to move back above 0.500 in conference-play.

Game 1: Adrian 11, Olivet 0 (5 Innings)
The 'Dogs got the offense grinding early in the first of Thursday's doubleheader. After a hitless first half-inning by Adrian starter
Natalie Mathers, the bats provided a little cushion for their pitcher.
Lauren McCulligh got the scoring rolling off of infield miscue, allowing
Hailey DeChalk and
Ava Ferrarelli to score the day's first runs. Two batters later,
Brynn McKay and
Mackenzie Melody smacked back-to-back RBI-hits, plating
Katie Connolly and McCulligh. After subsequently stealing second base, Melody was sent home off the iron of
Savannah Godfrey, who singled to the right side to bring the lead up to 5-0 for Adrian.
Following a scoreless second frame, the black and gold picked it back up in the third. An RBI-double by DeChalk and another fielding mishap swiftly increased the Bulldogs' advantage to 8-0. Then, another timely hit by McCulligh tacked on a fourth run for the locals in the inning, pushing the score to 9-0.
Seniors
Katy McGarry and
Ally Harry would go on to round out Adrian's offensive barrage in the bottom leg of the fourth inning, contributing an RBI each.
From there, reliever Allison Tenhove finished the job, firing one half-inning of no-hit softball to seal the deal.
Mathers (4-8) was credited with the win in the circle for Adrian in game one, working through four complete-innings, striking out five, and allowing only one wind-affected hit.

Game 2: Adrian 10, Olivet 1 (5 Innings)
The Bulldogs nearly copied their offensive production from game one in game two, but they did tie a season-high with 14 total hits.
Another handful of runs in the opening frame got Adrian moving in the right direction, beginning, again, with an RBI from McCulligh, followed by a two-run RBI-double by Connolly to quickly make it 3-0 in favor of the 'Dogs.
McKay put the exclamation point on the inning for the locals, connecting on her first-career home run to straight-away center field to clear the bases and plate Connolly as well.
In the second frame, Adrian went off for another crooked run-total, highlighted by a second two-run RBI-double from Connolly. And with the help of singles by
Keira Stampfly and Ferrarelli to plate two more tallies, the 'Dogs were well on their way to another convincing victory, up 9-0.
Despite Olivet getting one run in the bottom of the fourth, the black and gold got it right back in following half-inning off of an RBI-single by DeChalk, bringing the scoreline to its 10-1 final.
In the circle,
Macee Schang (3-4) retired eight Comet batters on strikes en route to her third win of the season. The freshman also surrendered only two hits and zero walks in four innings of action.
Â
On the day offensively, DeChalk finished with a team-high five hits, while Connolly led the Bulldogs with four RBIs on four hits, including three doubles.
The Bulldog softball team continues its extended weekend on Friday afternoon in Indiana against Anderson University.
