ANDERSON, Ind. - At the Ravens' Softball Field, the Adrian softball team continued its extended weekend with the first of its two Indiana-based opponents in Anderson University. After two high-scoring affairs against Olivet College on Thursday, the Bulldogs were held silent in game one before coming back and returning the favor in game two to garner a split.

Game 1: Adrian 0, Anderson 2
The first of Friday's doubleheader was a pitcher's dual through and through, pinning Adrian's
Macee Schang against Anderson's
Kaitlyn Hawkins.
All told, the two aces combined for 10 strikeouts, three walks and zero runs allowed. In fact, the contest saw only two total hits over the first two and-a-half innings, but even a three-hit frame by the home side in the bottom of the third was not enough to plate any runs.
However, in the fifth inning, the Ravens broke through on Bulldog reliever Allison Tenhove, singling a two-run RBI with two outs for the game's only tallies.
Adrian had a huge opportunity in the top leg of the sixth frame with the bases loaded, but Anderson was able to draw a ground-out to retire the chance and hang on from there.
Hailey DeChalk led the 'Dogs at the plate with two hits, and
Katie Connolly recorded her fifth-straight game with a double.

Game 2: Adrian 5, Anderson 0
In game two, the Bulldogs flipped the script, shutting out the Ravens behind
Abbi Patton's first-career complete-game.
Much like the earlier outing, the bats were slow to start on both sides, but after two scoreless frames, the 'Dogs finally notched their first run of the day.
In the top of the third, DeChalk found her way to second base on a two-out double, and was subsequently plated after an infield-error by the Ravens to make it a 1-0 ballgame.
Three innings later, Adrian got some much-needed insurance.
First, a two-run single through the right side off the bat of
Paige Stein plated
Brynn McKay and Connolly. Then, on the very next at-bat, DeChalk connected on her second multi-base hit of the game to bring around Mackenzie Johnson and
Savannah Godfrey, giving the black and gold a handful on the scoreboard.
Patton was lockdown on the rubber to preserve the victory for Adrian, surrendering only two hits over the final five innings to pick up her second win of the season.
Offensively, DeChalk improved her individual hit-streak to four games, tacking on three hits for the second time in the last four games.
