ALBION, Mich. -- Another game for the Adrian College baseball team took place on Thursday as they continued the suspended contest against Albion College from last week. The Bulldogs came away with a 15-3 win to sweep Albion in the season series and win every game by mercy rule.
Michael Swanson picked up where he left off on the mound grabbing his third win of the season in a complete game for Adrian.
Before the contest was suspended last week, Adrian and Albion sat tied at 3-3 in the top of the fourth inning. Albion got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to lead 2-0. In the top of the second, Adrian went off for a three run inning.
Owen Brown started the scoring driving in
Aaron Valentine who reached base on a double to center field. Later the in the inning, the Bulldogs had the bases loaded and
Thomas Miller drew a walk to tie the game at 2-2. Brown later came around to score on a wild pitch to take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the third, Albion tied the game on a single before the field became too wet to play on and the contest was suspended.
The team's picked up action at 2:00 PM on Thursday and the Bulldogs' bats came alive. In the fourth,
AJ Miranda doubled to center field to score
Ty Peck to take the lead. Valentine reached on an error later in the inning to score Miranda, and
Dylan Johnson doubled to center to score
David Kedrow and lead 6-3. In the sixth inning, Valentine and Miranda sat in scoring position with Miranda scoring on a wild pitch to go up 7-3.
The Bulldogs continued to rally in the seventh.
Gus Weaks made his way to third base and later scored on a single from Peck which was later followed by a bases loaded walk to Miranda. Kedrow laced a single into left field to drive in two more runs and lead 11-3. In the eighth inning, the Bulldogs were hunting for the mercy rule.
Don Goodes smashed a 3-run homer to put Adrian up 14-3. Miranda backed up the home run with a triple and scored on a ground out to lead 15-3.
Swanson kept Albion scoreless on Thursday as he finished his complete game with eight innings of work on the mound. Swanson allowed three runs on six hits with ten strikeouts during the two-day contest.
Adrian will finally get a day off after three straight days of games before traveling to Olivet College on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM.
