ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's tennis team competed against Anderson University on Saturday afternoon as the team's first home match of the season. The Bulldogs moved to 3-1 on the year and continue their hot start after a 6-3 victory.
Adrian finished the day 2-1 in the Doubles round.
Jules Johnson and
Elizabeth Himebauch began the day with an 8-3 win at No. 1 Doubles. Claire Early and
Liv Depies also won 8-3 at No. 2 Doubles while
Bethany Posey and
Vasiliki Gargasoulas lost 8-6 at No. 3.
The Bulldogs took four of the six Singles matches to lock up the win. Johnson swept her match with scores of 6-0 and 6-1 at No. 1 Singles. Earley won both sets 6-4 at No. 2 Singles to grab the win while Himebauch swept 6-4 and 6-3 at No. 3 Singles. Posey picked up a win at No. 5 Singles in a three-set match after she dropped the first set. Depies and Gargasoulas each battled in three-set matches, but couldn't come away with wins.
The Bulldogs will turn things around quickly with their next match scheduled from Sunday, September 18 at home against Olivet.
