ADRIAN, Mich. -- With every Adrian College Homecoming, the Bulldogs induct a new class of Hall of Fame members. During the week we will highlight the Class of 2022 and the accomplishments each of them made during their time at Adrian College.
On September 23, 2022, Stan Albeck will be inducted to the Adrian College Athletic Hall of Fame as an Honorary Member. Albeck served as head coach of the Adrian College men's basketball team during the 1956-57 season. The team finished third in the conference and went 16-5 on the season. Adrian College was Coach Albeck's first head coaching job.
Coach Albeck went on to coach basketball for Northern Michigan and the University of Denver. After coaching college, he began a career in the ABA and the NBA. He began coaching the Denver Rockets before moving to Cleveland for the 1979-80 season. From there he went to San Antonio from 1980-83, New Jersey from 1983-85, and Chicago from 1985-86. Coach Albeck took San Antonio to back-to-back Western Conference Finals in 1982 and 1983.
Coach Albeck coached basketball greats including Wilt Chamberlin and Michael Jordan. He went on to become an inductee of the Bradley University Sports Hall of Fame and the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame.
Coach Albeck passed away in 2021 in hospice care after suffering a stroke. The Albeck family received the induction on Coach Albeck's behalf.
In addition to the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday night, the 2022 Hall of Fame Class will be honored on the field before the Homecoming football game on Saturday.
