Football Blows Out Finlandia Scoring Second Most Points in Program History

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College football team hosted Finlandia University for the Homecoming football game on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs came ready to play as they demolished the Lions 73-13. 73 points is the second most point scored in a single game in program history before 77 against Husson University in 2011.

Aaron Jenkins started the scoring with a 19-yard run to lead 7-0.  Kenny Kujawa then ran back a punt 64 yards to score and make it 14-0 with less than five minutes played. Walker Evans kicked a 29-year field goal to extend the lead which was followed by touchdowns from Waides Ashmon on an interception return and Tyler Poirier on a 34-yard reception to lead 31-0 after the first quarter.

Shenard Foster started the second quarter with a 28-yard touchdown run to keep things going which was backed by a 17-yard reception for a touchdown from Cole Seslar, and a 2-yard run from Jimmie Clark at the end of the half. The Bulldogs led 52-0 at the break.

Ben Coloske caught a 9-yard pass to make it 59-0 before Finlandia finally got themselves on the board. In the fourth quarter, Keshawn Charlot score a 13-yard touchdown to make it 66-6. Finlandia scored again with 6:37 to go in the game, but Adrian kept up the offense. Taj Williams rushed in a touchdown from the one-yard line to cap off the 73-13 victory.

Adrian finished with 495 yards of total offense with 340 coming on the ground. The Bulldogs had nine different rushers during the game led by Clark who finished with 81 yards on eight attempts. Salvatore Patierno was next with 71 yards on nine attempts.

The Bulldogs will begin conference play next weekend on the road as they travel to Hope College for a 3:00 PM game.
