ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College women's soccer team opened MIAA conference play on Wednesday afternoon as they hosted Hope College. The Bulldogs fell to to the Dutch 1-0 after a second half goal. Adrian moves to 4-3-2 (0-1 MIAA) on the season.
Adrian and Hope kept the match scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play on Wednesday night. The Dutch put together and early opportunity on a corner kick that bounced off the crossbar, but the Bulldogs were able to get it out of the box. Adrian collected one shot in the half along with a corner kick.Â
In the second half, Hope broke the silence with a goal in the 55th minute. The Bulldogs tried to bounce back and tie the match, but were unsuccessful. They totaled three shots in the second half, but couldn't find the back of the net.
"This was another tight battle with Hope in a series that just seems to go back and forth year after year," said head coach
Ali Alamdari. "Neither team gave many looks at goal, but ultimately they pounced on their best opportunity and we weren't able to convert ours."
Eve Davis and Mckenna Mahoney each recorded a shot on goal for Adrian while
Kaitlyn Dake racked up a pair of shots off the bench.
Taylor Fischer got the start in goal for the Bulldogs making three saves.
Adrian returns to action at home on Saturday, October 1 at 12:00 PM when they host Olivet College. Saturday is scheduled to be senior day for the Bulldogs as they honor the senior class before kickoff.
