ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team looked to complete the sweep over Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon. Afternoon winning 8-2 the night before, the Bulldogs looked for a similar result. Adrian went on to blowout the Falcons on Saturday afternoon by a score of 12-1.
Ryan Pitoscia put Adrian ahead 1-0 on an early goal.
Connor May and Cam Babiak recorded assists on the opening goal.
Sam Ruffin later scored a shorthanded goal for the Bulldogs to lead 2-0 with just under five minutes played in the game. At the 13:05 mark in the first period, Pitoscia scored his second of the game to lead 3-0. Concordia Wisconsin answered back scoring on a rebound shot to make it 3-1 entering the first intermission.
Adrian totaled six goals in the second period to lead 9-1 lead.
Alessio Luciani found the back of the net for the Bulldogs' fourth goal of the game.
Riley Murphy found the back of the net to lead 5-1 which was followed by a hat trick goal from Pitoscia to lead 6-1.
Matus Spodniak added a power play goal in the period followed by another power play goal from
Zachary Heintz. Later in the period,
Jacob Suede scored to bring the Adrian lead to 9-1.
Adrian added three more in the third. Pitoscia scored his fourth of the game on a power play followed by
Connor May's first goal of the season.
John Kaljian netted a goal to put Adrian ahead 12-1. All three third period goals came in a 35 second span.
Nic Tallarico got the start in goal for the Bulldogs totaling 12 saves in two periods of play.
Jackson Bernard played the third period for the Bulldogs making seven saves. Bernard was faced with a pair of 5-on-3 penalty kills where he held the Falcons scoreless.
Adrian will take a week off before hosting Aurora University for a NCHA battle at home beginning on Friday, February 3 at 7:00 PM.
