ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 1 hockey team opened its season this weekend with a sweep of Lindenwood University, winning both games, 9-0, at the Arrington Ice Arena.
Saturday night's season opening game saw seven different Bulldogs find the score sheet, including
Sydney White,
Rhea Peterson,
Hailey Wiltshire,
Ashlynn Stitt,
Mackenzie Parent, and
Allison Shaw and
Makenzie Villiard who both tallied twice. Sophomore forward,
Taylor Robinson, provided three assists in the win, while Senior goaltender,
Chloe Burt, made 19 saves in the shutout victory.
To close out the series on Sunday afternoon, the Bulldogs continued their offensive prowess with another convincing win over the Lindenwood Lions. Goals from
Tess McKerrow, White,
Mya Reyes,
Keira Eagleson, Parent, and two from
Tyla Turnbull and Wiltshire. Sophomore forward,
Macy Piche, collected three helpers in the win and in goal, Burt stopped all 18 shots for her second straight shutout victory.
The WD1 Bulldogs will next face off against CCWHA conference opponent, Grand Valley State University, in a home and home series on October 6-7. Friday's puck drop will be at 7:30 PM in Grand Rapids, and Saturday's puck drop will go at 7:00 PM at the Arrington Ice Arena.
