Football Downed on the Road at Kalamazoo, 45-23

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Adrian College football team headed out on the road for another MIAA contest at Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon. Things did not goes as planned for the Bulldogs as they were handed their sixth loss of the season by a score of 45-23.
 
Kalamazoo started the game with back-to-back touchdowns in the first five minutes. With eight minutes left in the first quarter, Tejay Moore found a hole and ran for a 53-yard touchdown to put Adrian on the board making the score 14-7. Kalamazoo responded with a 37-yard field goal to end the first quarter which was followed up by a scoop and score touchdown to give Kalamazoo a 24-7 lead at halftime.
 
Adrian opened the second half with a 36-yard field goal followed by a 3-yard touchdown run to put the score at 24-16. Kalamazoo answered back with another touchdown before Mark Lopez found Keontae Townsend for a 5-yard touchdown reception putting the score at 31-23. Late in the fourth quarter, Kalamazoo added a pair of touchdowns to seal the victory.
 
Lopez finished the day 20-for-34 with 202 yards passing and a touchdown. Moore led the way on the ground with 123 yards rushing on 20 attempts. Tyler Poirier totaled 70 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Townsend led the receivers with eight receptions for 84 yards.
 
On defense, Ryker Bidwell led the way with 11 total tackles followed by ten for Beau Ginop and nine from Gauge Ginop. Kameruan Smith added an interception for the Bulldogs.
 
Adrian will have a week off before returning to action at home on Saturday, October 28 when they host Albion College at 3:00 PM.
