Box Score 3 SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Adrian College club baseball team traveled to Notre Dame over the weekend for a three-game series with the Fighting Irish. The Bulldogs struggled over the weekend dropping all three games by scores of 9-3, 11-4, and 20-3.
The Bulldogs trailed 6-0 heading into the sixth inning before scoring three to put themselves on the board.
Elijah Holst singled in the first Adrian run of the game. Adrian went on to take advantage of a Notre Dame error scoring two more runs in the inning. Notre Dame responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to win 9-3.
Joe Postma started on the mound for the Bulldogs where he threw four innings allowing three earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts.
Adrian trailed 3-0 in game two before scoring three in the top of the fourth.
Ty Cornett drew a walk with the bases loaded followed by an RBI single from
Brock Hudik.
Brady Pepper later scored on a wild pitch. Notre Dame scored a run in the bottom of the fourth which was answered by an RBI single from Pepper to tie the game. Notre Dame posted a big fifth inning to win 11-4.
Jack Florig started on the mound for Adrian where he allowed three earned runs in four innings with five strikeouts.
Notre Dame's bats stayed hot in the third game where they posted 20 runs on Adrian. Adrian's first run came in the fifth inning on an RBI single from
Jesse Leyva. The Bulldogs scored two more in the top of the seventh on a bases loaded walk to
Luke Pope and a Notre Dame passed ball to score Holst.
The club baseball team returns to action on Saturday, October 14 at home where they will host Hillsdale College for a doubleheader starting at 4PM.
