ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team hosted Simon Fraser University on Friday evening for an exhibition game to begin the season. The Bulldogs went on to defeat the Red Leafs, 2-1 in the battle.
Dershahn Stewart was the No. 1 star of the game for Adrian in goal when we held Simon Fraser to one goal while recording 33 saves.
Adrian opened the scoring in the first period on a power play goal.
Mathew Rehding passed the puck out of the corner to
Riley Murphy who found
Bradley Somers for the goal. Adrian added in the second period after
Connor May picked up a rebound and passed to
John Kaljian to make it 2-0. Simon Fraser scored a power play goal in the third, but struggled to find a way to tie it up.
Adrian's defense killed off five power plays including a 5-on-3 opportunity for Simon Fraser.Â
The Bulldogs will begin their regular season on the road when they travel to Utica University for a two-game series on October 27-28.
