CHICAGO, Ill. - The Adrian College Men's ACHA Division 1 hockey team traveled to Chicago over the weekend for a two-game road series with Roosevelt University. The two teams met for the first time this season, with both contests as part of GLCHL conference play.
A shootout was needed to decide a victor in game one on Friday night at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois between the two teams, with the Bulldogs coming out as 4-3 winners.
Nash Hatcher opened the scoring for the Bulldogs, followed by
David Dell scoring his first ACHA goal to make it 2-0 for Adrian.
Blake Wideman would add another to put the Bulldogs up 3-0 after one. Roosevelt would claw back late in the game, but it was
Justin Jamer who sealed it in the shootout and
Peyton Trzaska who shut the door to secure his first ACHA win in goal.
The Bulldogs and Lakers went at it again on Saturday night, with the Bulldogs looking to walk out with another win.
Sam Spaedt potted four goals, while
Dylan Gajewski scored twice on the powerplay, and
Matteo DiGiulio, Jamer, and
Nathaniel Mott each tallied once to put nine on the board for Adrian. Roosevelt scored once in the second period and once in the third period but that was all that got past
Noah Decottignies as he made 23 saves in the 9-2 Bulldog victory.
The MD1 Bulldogs will now look forward to a rivalry home and home matchup with Ohio University this week on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27. The two teams last met in the semifinals of the ACHA National Tournament last season. The Bulldogs and Bobcats will face off at the Arrington Ice Arena on Thursday at 7:30 PM and then 7:00 PM on Friday at the Bird Ice Arena in Athens, Ohio. Thursday's home game will feature an Adrian Youth Hockey Association and Lenawee United Appreciation Night and ceremonial puck drop.
