ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's soccer team competed at home against Trine University on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs won in shocking fashion breaking a 0-0 tie with eight seconds remaining in the match to defeat the Thunder, 1-0.
The battle was back-and-forth with Trine controlling for most of the first half. Adrian grabbed the momentum in the final ten minutes of the first half putting shots on goal, but coming up short. The Bulldogs and the Thunder headed into the break tied, 0-0.
The battle continued in the second half. Trine had multiple corner kick opportunities throughout the match as they posted a total of nine throughout the night. It took one play for the Bulldogs to claim themselves victors. Adrian forced a turnover in their defensive zone where
Kelsey Zoli dribbled the ball up field. With one defender to beat, Zoli passed up the field where
Annamarie Fosmoen caught up to the pass and scored with eight seconds to go.
The Bulldogs ended the match with 16 shots with ten on goal. Trine finished with eight total shots with five on goal.
The Bulldogs move to 6-3-2 overall on the season and hold a MIAA record of 2-1. Adrian will resume action at home on Saturday, October 7 when they host Saint Mary's College at 7PM for Senior Night.
