Box Score 3 ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College club baseball team hosted Bowling Green State University for a three game series at Nicolay Field. The Bulldogs won Saturday's doubleheader 5-1 and 1-0 before taking the series finale 14-9 on Sunday. Adrian moves to 5-6 on the season and extends its winning streak to four.
Jack Whitehead opened the scoring for the Bulldogs with a 2-RBI triple in the third inning.
Connor Davies singled in Whitehead to give Adrian a 3-0 lead. Bowling Green scored in the top of the sixth which was quickly answered by a 2-RBI single from Stephen Aumaitre to win 5-1.
Joe Postma pitched a 7-inning complete game for Adrian where he allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts.
In game two, the Bulldogs came away with a 1-0 victory. The long run came in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single from
Jesse Leyva.
Jack Florig pitched a complete game shutout where he allowed four hits with three strikeouts.
On Sunday, Adrian completed the sweep with a 14-9 victory. The Bulldogs started the scoring early with a run in the first, five in the second, and three in the fourth. Bowling Green turned it on late with two runs in the fifth, four in the seventh, and three in the ninth, but Adrian kept it going all game with arun in the fifth, seventh, and three in the eighth to win 14-9. Bowling Green struggled to find the strike zone as the Bulldogs totaled 24 walks on the afternoon. Aumaitre homered during the game. Mathias Neuenkirchen earned the start for the Bulldogs where he threw four innings while striking out seven.
Sam Fosmoen and
Elijah Holst appeared in relief.
The Bulldogs will wrap up their fall season on Friday, November 10 when they host the University of Toledo for a doubleheader slated the begin at 4:00 PM.
