ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's basketball team hosted Hiram College in a non-conference matchup on Saturday. The Bulldogs beat the Terriers by a score of 59-52.
Adrian would come out and win the first quarter of play, 19-14. Hiram would shoot 6-17 from the field and go 2-6 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs would shoot 43.75% from the floor and shoot 50% from the three-point line.
The Terriers would fight back and make it a two-point game heading into the half. They won the second quarter 10-7. Hiram would shoot 10-34 in the first half from the floor and go 3-11 from the three-point line. Adrian would go into the half winning, 26-24.
Adrian would win the entire second half by a six-point margin. In the third quarter Adrian would win the quarter 15-11 to grow their lead to 41-35. Adrian would shoot 31.58% from the floor, but would go 0-3 from beyond the arc.
In the fourth quarter Hiram would take the lead with about six-minutes to go.
Bailey Taylor would hit back-to-back threes to put Adrian's lead to seven points. Soon after, Hiram would go on a 6-0 run of their own to make it a one-point game with a little under four minutes to go. The Bulldogs would hold the Terriers scoreless the rest of the way and win the game, 59-52.
Taylor led Adrian with 16 points with
Kiaya Warner adding 11 and
Aubrie Ickes and
Ashlyn Weatherly both scoring 10. Weatherly would grab nine rebounds on the night with Taylor and Warner each grabbing six.
Kylie Skidmore would total seven assists throughout the forty minutes of play.
The Bulldogs will travel to Oberlin College for their next matchup on Wednesday, December 13 at 7:00 PM!
