STEVENS POINT, Wis. – On Saturday, February 18, 14 members of the Adrian College women's wrestling team competed and placed in the NCWWC (National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championship) regional rounds. As a team, 10 Bulldogs were national qualifiers. Freshman Clarissa Agostini and graduate student Sienna Lejeune led the Bulldogs with 26.5 and 22 points today to take Regional Championship titles.
In the 109 class, Emily Mendez won by tech fall over Gabby Motz (Albion). With her victory, Mendez claimed third place.
Angela LoRusso of the 116 class placed 2nd after losing via decision to Rose Ann Marshall (Wisconsin Stevens Point) in the first place match today.
In the 123 class, Morgan Bethea (Wisconsin Stevens Point) won by tech fall over Laila Oribello in the third place match. With the defeat, Oribello would compete in a true fourth match against Jennifer Villagomez of Carthage College. Oribello would win by fall 54 seconds into the match.
Shawna Oesterling of Adrian College 136 class placed third today. During the third place match, Oesterling won by fall over Tatiana Bermudez (Tiffin University).
Freshman Agostini of the 143 class won by fall over Marisa Roth (Northern Michigan University) in the first place match today. Today, Agostini would have three pins, and 22 match points.
In the 155 class Nyla Burgess placed 2nd after her first place match. In her semifinal round, Burgess would defeat Jade Herzer of Wisconsin Stevens Point by decision. Later in the first place match Lydia Krauss (Northern Michigan University) won by fall over Burgess, inserting her into second place.
For junior Taylor Cutler of the 155 class, she would bounce back after her semifinal defeat to take third on the afternoon. Cutler would win by decision in the third place match over Anna Strand of Wisconsin Stevens Point by decision.
Aspen Dodge of the 170 class placed third today. In the third place match, Dodge won by tech fall over Teni Ajayi (Northern Michigan University).
In the 191 class, graduate student Lejeune won by fall over fellow Bulldog Yamilex Perez. Lejeune would place first, while Perez took second today.
