HOLLAND, Mich. -- The Adrian College men's basketball team traveled to Hope College for the Quarterfinal round of the MIAA Tournament. After earning the sixth seed for the MIAA Tournament, the Bulldogs faced No. 3 Hope with the winner advancing to the semifinal round to play No. 2 Trine University. Unfortunatley, Adrian's season came to an end after an 82-63 loss to the Flying Dutchmen.
Adrian trailed 39-34 at the end of the first half. The Flying Dutchmen jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game, but the Bulldogs battled back. Adrian went on to shoot 46.7% from the field in the first half and 62.5% from beyond the arc.
Kendall Bellamy led the team in the first half with 10 points with the help of a pair of three-pointers.
Nick Seifert added seven first half points while
Jonathan Duvall totaled five for the first half. Seifert and
De'Ovion Price each grabbed three rebounds in the first half.
Hope became lights out after the break shooting 68% from the field. The Flying Dutchmen knocked down four three-points in the half out of eight attempts. Adrian finished the second half with a shooting percentage of 44.6%, but struggled from three-point land shooting 2-of-7.
Price finished the day with 14 points as did Bellamy. Seifert finished with ten while
Michael Rightnowar also scored ten. Price finished with a team-high five rebounds while Duvall recorded a team-high four assists.
Adrian finishes the season with a 7-19 overall record with a 4-10 conference record. The Bulldogs will look to improve next season. All-MIAA selections for the 2022-23 season will be announced on Friday, February 24 at 1:00 PM.
