WD2 Hockey Secures No. 2 Spot in Central Region, Set to Compete at ACHA National Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Adrian College Women's ACHA Division 2 hockey team wrapped up their CCWHA Conference Playoffs this past weekend, finishing second to Sault College. The CCWHA Conference Division 2 Playoffs operated under a pool play format, which saw the Bulldogs compete against Sault College, Michigan State University, and Central Michigan University. The two teams that finished pool play with the most points, would then advance to the championship game.

The Bulldogs, who came in as the No. 4 seed, opened their playoff tournament with a 6-0 loss at the hands of No. 1 Sault College, followed by a 6-5 win over No. 3 MSU and a 5-1 win over No. 2 CMU. With a 2-1 record in pool play, Adrian advanced to the championship game, only to face off against Sault College once again. The Bulldogs, who lost all three previous meetings this season with Sault, were looking for one final triumph, but fell short. Sault College secured the CCWHA Division 2 Championship, beating Adrian 3-0.

With the regular and playoff seasons completed, the WD2 Bulldogs will now look forward to the ACHA National Tournament in Boston, Massachusetts from March 16-20, 2023. The winners of each pool will advance to the semi-final games on March 19. The winners of the semi-final games will advance to the championship game on March 20.

The WD2 Bulldogs have been placed into Pool C, along with West Region No. 1 Assiniboine, Northeast Region No. 3 Vermont, and Central Region #4 Michigan State.
