ORLANDO, FLA. – The Adrian College women's tennis team lost to University of Mary 5-2 while the men lost their matchup with Bethel University (Ind.) 9-0 Wednesday afternoon.
In the women's singles play, Bulldogs Ava Hovey and Vasiliki Gargasoulas picked up wins Wednesday.
The freshman Hovey, would win her match two sets to one over Samantha Purpura. After losing the first set, Hovey would storm back, winning two consecutive sets to take the victory. With the win, Hovey has started her career with two wins and one loss in singles play.
For Gargasoulas, over her last three singles matches she has recorded a 2-1 record. Today, the senior would win by default, improving her overall record on the year to 2-3.
All players on the men's team would lose their singles and doubles matches during the afternoon.
Up Next: The women's team will travel to South Bend, Indiana to face Saint Mary's College (IN.) on Friday, March 10 at 3 PM. The men's team will host Lourdes University at Craft Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 11. For the men, matches will start at 1 PM.
