Baseball Shows Success in 13-5 Win over Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Adrian College baseball team began its three-game weekend in North Carolina with a game against Greensboro College. The Bulldogs came away with their fourth win of the season after scoring in seven of the nine innings to win 13-5.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Adrian opened the day with a run in the first inning on a RBI single from Ryan Davis.
  • In the second, Logan Loeffler singled in a run followed by a RBI double from Travis Liford.
  • In the third inning, Edward Wagner made it a 4-0 game with a RBI triple.
  • Greensboro scored in the bottom of the third which Adrian responded by scoring on an error in the fifth. Greensboro answered back to make it a 5-2 game heading into the sixth.
  • Liford drove in another run on a triple in the sixth inning which was followed by a sacrifice fly from Don Goodes.
  • Alejandro Montada made it 8-2 after a seventh inning RBI double.
  • Adrian totaled five runs in the eighth inning with the help of a RBI double from Davis, RBI singles from Wagner and Loeffler, and an error by the Greenboro outfield.
  • Greensboro didn't quit as they scored three runs in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
ON THE MOUND
  • Daniel Gutierrez earned the start on Friday afternoon throwing 4.2 innings allowing two runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
  • Gage Ricker picked up the win in relief for Adrian with 2.1 innings pitch allowing no runs on one hit.
  • Michael Swanson, Joe Toth, and Tripp Russo also appeared in relief for Adrian.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will face Maryville College on Saturday night with first pitch at 5:30 PM.
