Senior
Lori Girrbach earned the award of "AQHA High-Point Rider" for Area 64! She is the first Adrian equestrian to earn this title two years in a row, and will be representing Area 64 at IHSA Nationals May 4-7 at The Kentucky Horse Park. Girrbach has been on Adrian College's Equestrian Team for all four years of her college career. Before signing at Adrian College, Girrbach showed competitively on the ApHC circuit under the guidance of Arturo Maestas and Jesse Jones. Girrbach won multiple world championships in the all-around events, including horsemanship and hunt seat equitation.
At Adrian College, Girrbach has been the stock (western) team captain for the past two years and competes in both open horsemanship and open reining. At the completion of the regular season, Girrbach ended with 56 points in open horsemanship and 60 points in open reining, totaling 116 point - a 46-point lead over the reserve high point rider. After working hard all season to earn the Area 64 High-Point Rider title, Girrbach was awarded an invitation to compete at IHSA Nationals in the AQHA High-Point Rider competition which combines the scores of one horsemanship class and one reining class. Last season Girrbach competed in the AQHA High-Point Competition and finished 9th overall out of 19 riders.
Before competing at nationals, Girrbach will compete at semi-finals both individually and for the team. At regionals, Girrbach was regional champion in open reining and reserve regional champion in open horsemanship. Semi-finals will be held March 18th/19th at The Grand Oaks in Weirsdale, Florida. Individually, she will compete in open horsemanship and open reining. Outside of Girrbach's individual competition, Coaches Troy and
Jody Prime have chosen Girrbach to represent the team in open horsemanship and open reining at semi-finals.
Girrbach will be graduating in the spring of 2023 with a degree in business administration and financial planning, as well as a minor in psychology. Help us congratulate
Lori Girrbach and wish her good luck finishing her senior season!!
