ADRIAN, Mich. — The Adrian College women's lacrosse team was defeated by Anderson on Saturday 11-5. Melaina Springer led the Bulldogs this afternoon with two goals and two assists.
How It Happened
Both Adrian College and Anderson University would score three goals in the game's opening quarter. After an Anderson goal during the game's opening minute, Springer would find teammates Joscelyn Potter and Zoe Weber to help the Bulldogs create a 2-1 lead over the Ravens. Eventually, Anderson would counter and tie the game at two all. With 8:41 remaining in the first, Springer would score her first goal of the game to put the Bulldogs back ahead at 3-2. However, Anderson responded and tied the game up again at three all with around four and a half minutes remaining in the quarter.
During the second and third quarters of play, the Ravens would score four straight goals to take a 7-3 lead over Adrian College. As the clock closed in on the final moments of the third quarter, Springer stopped the Anderson run by scoring her second goal of the game. With her goal, Springer had pulled the Bulldogs within three at 7-4 in favor of Anderson.
In the fourth quarter with about six minutes remaining, freshman Emily Crager would tack on her sixth goal of the season to cut the deficit to four. However, Anderson would score two more goals in the final three and a half minutes of the fourth to conclude Saturday's action.

The freshman Springer recorded team highs with two goals and two assists Saturday afternoon. As of Saturday, Springer's 2.83 goals per game is currently 0.07 GPG behind the 200th best GPG average in NCAA Division III women's lacrosse.
