Baseball Swept by Denison in Sunday Doubleheader

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team was back at Nicolay Field on Sunday afternoon when they hosted Denison for a doubleheader. The Bulldogs struggled to find hits as they dropped game one by a score of 11-3 and game two 6-0
 
GAME 1
  • Denison jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the second inning.
  • Denison added two more in the fourth on a two-run homer which was answered by a solo home run from Ryan Davis.
  • Denison added five in the fifth inning to lead 10-1.
  • Tyler Whitfield knocked in a run for Adrian on an RBI groundout followed by an RBI double from Jakob Charles to make it 10-3.
  • Denison added one more in the seventh to win 11-3.
  • Don Goodes picked up the loss for the Bulldogs after allowing five runs on four hits. Michael Swanson and Tripp Russo appeared in relief.
GAME 2
  • Denison grabbed a first inning lead on a sacrifice fly to lead 1-0.
  • They went on to extend their lead in the fourth inning to 6-0.
  • Adrian struggled defensively finishing the game with four errors.
  • At the plate, Charles and Alejandro Montada led the Bulldogs with two hits.
  • Daniel Gutierrez picked up the loss on the mound after throwing four innings allowing six runs on six hits.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, March 28 at home when they host Ohio Wesleyan for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 PM.
