TIFFIN, Ohio – The Adrian College softball team lost to Heidelberg in game one 4-5 and was victorious in game two after a 4-0 win to conclude Tuesday's doubleheader.
GAME ONE
In game one's action, both teams would be held scoreless until Heidelberg broke the 0-0 tie during the bottom of the third inning after a defensive error by the Bulldogs. Later in the following inning, the softball team struck back, scoring three total runs to take a 3-1 lead. During the fourth, Maggie Leveille would line out to center field, advancing Hailey DeChalk to second, Makenzi Johnson to third, and scoring Karson Bagelmann.
Later in the inning, Ava Ferrarelli singled to left center, driving in DeChalk and Johnson to take the two-run lead.
However, in the bottom half of the inning, the Bulldogs would see three runs scored by Heidelberg and faced a one-run deficit. Later during the top of the fifth inning, the Bulldogs would tie the game at four all after Meghan Lupu would score off of a wild pitch. Later in the bottom of the sixth, Heidelberg would score the game-winning run after a Bulldog defensive error.
GAME TWO
The Bulldogs would end Tuesday's action with a 4-0 shutout victory in game two of the doubleheader.
For the majority of the game, both teams were deadlocked in a 0-0 tie until the Bulldogs took the charge, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning. Bagelmann would begin the inning with a walk which was followed by Genna Marasco's sacrifice bunt, advancing Bagelmann to second.
During the next Bulldog at bat, Paige Stein doubled down the infield line, scoring Bagelmann in the process. After a DeChalk single, Leveille doubled to center field to continue the scoring. During the play, DeChalk advanced to third and Johnson would reach home.
The last run of the inning occurred after Ferrarelli hit a sacrifice fly to center field, scoring DeChalk and advancing Leveille to third. The Bulldogs were unable to score Leveille but had more than enough runs to take the game-two victory. In the bottom of the sixth, Heidelberg went one-two-three to conclude the game and the Bulldogs had successfully split Tuesday's doubleheader.
Top Dawgs
In game one, Ferrarelli would record a hit and an RBI to lead the Adrian College offense. In game two, Marasco, Stein, and Leveille each recorded a hit and an RBI to lead the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will travel to North Manchester, Indiana to play yet another doubleheader, this time against Manchester University. The two games will take place on Wednesday, March 29, at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.
