ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College softball team hosted Kalamazoo College in a MIAA doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs swept the series winning 5-4 in game one and 4-1 in game two. Adrian improves to 2-2 in MIAA play and 17-9 on the season.
GAME 1
- Kalamazoo took advantage of an early Bulldog error in the top of the first to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Bulldogs responded in the bottom half of the inning as Kalamazoo made an error and tied the game 1-1.
- In the fourth inning, Kalamazoo scored a pair of runs to retake the lead, 3-1.
- The Bulldogs came back in the bottom of the inning with a RBI single from Flesia Borck and a 2-RBI double from Meghan Lupu to take a 4-3 lead.
- In the sixth inning, Paige Stein drove in Karson Bagelmann on a RBI double to extend the lead to 5-3.
- Kalamazoo put the pressure on the Bulldogs as they scored in the top of the seventh, but Adrian escaped the jam to win 5-4.
- Bagelmann led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance while Stein and Ava Ferrarelli each had multi-hit games.
- Abbi Patton went the distance on the mound where she allowed one earned run on seven hits with a pair of strikeouts.
GAME 2
- Kalamazoo jumped out to a 1-0 lead after scoring a run in the bottom of the third on a single up the middle.
- Adrian responded in the top of the fourth with a RBI single from Brynn McKay to tie the game.
- Genna Marasco drove in a run later in the inning to lead 2-1.
- In the top of the sixth, Marasco singled in another run to extend the lead followed by a RBI double from Bagelmann to make it 4-1.
- Bagelmann, McKay, and Marasco all had multi-hit games for Adrian in the game two victory.
- Macee Schang picked up her tenth win of the season allowing one run on six hits with seven strikeouts in her complete game.
UP NEXT
The Bulldogs will travel to Olivet College this weekend for a doubleheader with the Comets on the road on Saturday, April 15. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1:00 PM.
