Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Early, Falk, Lead Bulldogs In Women’s And Men’s Tennis Loss To Trine Tuesday

ADRIAN, Mich. — On Tuesday, April 18 the Adrian College women's and men's tennis teams lost to Trine University. The women's team would lose 6-3, while the men's team lost 7-2 against the Thunder.  

How It Happened 

For the women's side, all three recorded points Tuesday were a result of singles victories. Today, Claire Earley, Jules Johnson, and Bethany Posey all saw wins during singles play. For the freshman Earley, she would defeat her opponent Bekah Trent in two sets, winning the first set 6-1 and the second 6-2. The freshman now has 10 singles victories on the year. The senior Johnson continued her exceptional play Tuesday, after defeating Eva Morales 6-1 in both the first and second sets. Johnson has now won three consecutive singles matches in a row, a season-best streak for the senior as she improved her singles record to 7-4 on the season. The last singles victory of the afternoon was awarded to the senior Posey. After winning the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-3, Posey would sweep Bailey Pelliccia en route to her third singles win of the season.

On the men's side today, Adrian College would fall to Trine 7-2. The men's tennis team saw a singles win from sophomore Brandon Falk and a doubles victory from Sean Ruhf and Jackson Wilcox. Falk would defeat his opponent Cole Goodman in two sets, winning the first set 6-4 and the second, 6-2. Falk has now improved his singles win total to 10 on the season after winning four out of his last five singles matches. In doubles play, the freshman Ruhf and junior Wilcox would win their match over Elijah Schilthuis and Nichoals Jen. After today's victory, the duo has now posted a 3-2 doubles record this season.

The men's and women's tennis teams will hit the road Saturday, April 22 at 3:00 PM, to take on Spring Arbor.
