ANGOLA, Ind. – The Adrian College softball team was tasked with tough competition on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to Trine University. The Bulldogs lost both games to the Thunder who rank No. 3 in the country with an 18-3 record. Adrian battled the whole way losing game one 1-0 and game two, 3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Adrian struggled at the plate in game one as they totaled just two hits with both coming from Hailey DeChalk.
- Abbi Patton pitched a phenomenal game on Saturday where she went 6.1 innings allowing just one run which came in the seventh. Patton went on to strikeout four.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Trine scored the only run of the game to win 1-0. Three singles in a row from the Thunder led to the winning run.
- Game two was just as close. Trine scored three in the top of the first on a single to center field and a sacrifice fly.
- In the third inning, Paige Stein singled in a run to put the Bulldogs on the board.
- In game two, Stein and Brynn McKay led the team with two hits each.
- Macee Schang got the start for Adrian where she threw seven innings of work allowing three runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.

The Bulldogs will return home for more MIAA action as they host Kalamazoo for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 11 at 3:00 PM.
