Baseball Concludes Regular Season with Series Win Over Kalamazoo; MIAA Tournament to Start Next Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Adrian College baseball team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to Kalamazoo College to finish the series with the Hornets. The Bulldogs split the Saturday doubleheader to win the series after winning game one on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs took game one by a score of 9-6 before losing game two 10-5.
 
GAME ONE
  • Adrian took advantage on Kalamazoo mistakes in the first inning scoring on a wild pitch and a Hornet error to lead 2-0. Kalamazoo tied the game in second inning on a pair of Adrian errors.
  • Ryan Davis put the Bulldogs ahead in the third inning followed by an RBI single from Travis Liford and another Kalamazoo wild pitch to lead 5-2.
  • Kalamazoo made it 5-4 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third.
  • Adrian added two more runs in the fourth inning on a two-run homer from Easton Rogers to lead 7-4.
  • Kalamazoo picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth which was answered by a pair of Adrian runs in the fifth. AJ Miranda hit a sacrifice fly followed by a RBI double from Edward Wagner.
  • Every hitter for Adrian recorded a hit in game one to lead to a team total of 14 hits.
  • Griffin Firestine earned the win in relief after throwing three innings allowing two runs on two hits. Ryan Davis earned his fifth save of the season with three innings in relief to close out the game.
GAME TWO
  • Kalamazoo took an early 5-0 lead with a five-run inning in the third. The Hornets added one in the fifth and one in the sixth to lead 7-0.
  • Zach Wade put the Bulldogs on the board in the seventh inning on a two-RBI double.
  • Adrian made it a 7-5 game in the eighth inning. The Bulldogs scored on a fielder's choice followed by back-to-back RBI singles from Linken Hayward and Wade.
  • Kalamazoo responded with three in the bottom of the inning to win 10-5.
UP NEXT
Adrian has secured the No. 3 seed in the MIAA Tournament and will open up next week on the road at Alma College. The official MIAA Tournament bracket will be released on Sunday with more information to followed.
