Adrian College Inducts Michael Duffy to the Athletic Hall of Fame

ADRIAN, MI -- With every Adrian College Homecoming, the Bulldogs induct a new class of Hall of Fame members. During the week we will highlight the Class of 2023 and the accomplishments each of them made during their time at Adrian College.

On September 15, 2023, Michael Duffy from the Class of 1982 will be inducted to the Adrian College Athletic Hall of Fame. Duffy was a member of the football team. He played football from 1978-81 where he earned All-Conference honors as a lineman and was a member of the undefeated MIAA Championship team in 1980.

Duffy coached football for 22 years at Adrian and was involved with the 1983, 88, 89, and 97 MIAA Championship teams. He coached the baseball team for ten seasons and was an assistant coach for the 1993 MIAA Championship team which marked the program's first championship. Duffy coached women's track and field for five years where he went on to coach an All-American high jumper.

In 2006, Duffy was named Athletic Director and held the position until his retirement in 2022. As Athletic Director, Duffy saw the athletic department grow from 16 athletic programs to 49 athletic programs. He was involved in the construction of the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center, Weight Room, Docking Stadium, Arrington Ice Arena, Nicolay Field, AC Softball Field, the Track and Field Complex, the Craft Tennis Complex, the Boathouse, the Bass Barn, and the eSports lab.

Duffy was instrumental in the merger of the MCHA and the NCHA hockey conferences and served as the Athletic Director Chair for the NCHA for ten seasons. In honor of his retirement in 2022, the Adrian College Board of Trustees and President Docking named the Adrian College weight room the Duffy Family Fitness Center.

Duffy is married to his wife Rachelle '84 in Hudson, Michigan and has a son named Nicholas '14.

In addition to the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday night, the 2023 Hall of Fame Class will be honored on the field before the Homecoming football game on Saturday.
